Accept payments through your own PayPal account with PayPal’s standard checkout. Buyers pay you directly - Komerza never holds the funds. There are two integrations to choose from:
Taking personal payments instead? See Setup PayPal F&F.

Prerequisites

  • A PayPal account. For Smart Buttons, it must be a verified Business account.
  • For Links and Buttons, a free Cloudflare account for your IPN relay.

Connect PayPal

1

Open Payment Methods

In your dashboard, open Settings under Online Store, then go to Payment Methods. Find PayPal and click Connect (or Configure if it’s already set up).
2

Choose an integration type

In the Configure PayPal dialog, pick Smart Buttons or Links and Buttons, then follow the matching section below.

Option A - Smart Buttons

1

Get your API credentials

Open the PayPal Developer Dashboard and sign in with your PayPal Business account. Open your app under Apps & Credentials (or create one), make sure you’re looking at Live credentials, and copy its Client ID and Secret.
2

Enter them in Komerza

Paste them into Client ID and Client secret.Optionally, tick Force credit/debit card payments only. Buyers then pay by card through PayPal and don’t get the option to log in to a PayPal account.
Smart Buttons needs a verified Business PayPal account. Personal accounts can’t use the systems this integration relies on - choose Links and Buttons instead.
3

Save

Click Save changes. Komerza registers the webhook it needs on your PayPal app automatically - there’s nothing to set up in PayPal.
1

Enter your PayPal email

Enter the PayPal email address associated with your PayPal account.
2

Set up your IPN relay

Links and Buttons payments are confirmed by PayPal’s IPN, through a private relay in your own Cloudflare account. Under Payment confirmation, click Connect Cloudflare and approve Komerza. Komerza saves your PayPal settings first, then sets up the relay. There’s nothing to change in PayPal - Komerza sends your relay’s address with every payment.
Links and Buttons stays hidden from checkout until your relay is live. See PayPal IPN Relay for the full walkthrough.
3

Save

If your relay was already live, click Save changes.

Test the integration

Make a $1 test payment on your store with PayPal to confirm the order is marked as paid. You can review your PayPal setup at any time under Settings → PayPal: it shows which integration you’re using, how its payments are confirmed, and your IPN relay.
